Silence - self-help movements for those who can neither speak nor hear. Sight is their major sense of perception. And there are others who cannot go anywhere except in their imagination. Yet they aspire for self-sufficiency and strive for acceptance as contributing members of the society.
Silence stands inspired by a few laurels and awards received through the years :
1996 - 1997 : Award of Excellence from the Federation of Small & Medium Industries (FOSMI) for export performance and growth, working with the physically challenged craftspersons.
1997 - 1998 : Best Asia Pacific Web Award for its digital catalogue at www.silence-india.com
1998 - 1999 : Silence e-catalogue features in “Top 25 of Indian websites”.
2001 - 2002 : Hellen Keller Award for Best Employer in Disabled Sector awarded by NCPEDP (National Centre for Promotion of Employment for the Physically Challenged People).
2003 - 2004 : National Award for Institution Category.
2003 - 2004 : State Award (Govt. of W.B.) for Service to the physically challenged.
